Peoria Heights' Longest Serving Mayor Passes Away
Former Peoria Heights Mayor Ray Picl has died, leaving behind a legacy of 28 years of service as the village's leader.
Ray certainly left his mark on our community
said incumbent Mayor Matt Wigginton, who is among many village leaders paying tribute to Picl. Village Trustee Brandon Wisenberg also shared his condolences on Facebook, stating that
Mayor Picl was the steady hand that guided our village for so many years. His vision and commitment have shaped the community we love today
Picl served as Peoria Heights mayor from 1969 to 1997 and was honored by the village last year with a proclamation for his 95th birthday.
