Longtime Peoria Broadcaster Chuck Collins to Retire
Chief meteorologist at WEEK-TV, Chuck Collins, is set to retire on October 15 after 50 years of broadcasting weather forecasts to the Peoria and Bloomington-Normal TV market.
After a long career, Collins notes that he will miss connecting with the community the most. In an interview on WGLT's Sound Ideas, he stated:
"The biggest thing I’m going to miss is talking to kids about weather. During the school year I would go to two or three schools a week talking to kids, especially grade school kids,"
He also mentioned that he enjoys speaking at community gatherings, including churches, and sometimes even casual conversations about weather.
