LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) — The man convicted in the fatal shooting of a Louisville father and his young daughter has been released from state custody.
Kevon Lawless, previously serving time for the 2020 double murder of Brandon Waddles and his 3-year-old daughter Trinity, is now listed as being held at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections (LMDC).
Authorities confirmed that Lawless’s transfer to LMDC was related to new legal proceedings, though specific reasons for his release from state custody were not disclosed.
Waddles and his daughter were shot and killed inside their home in the Jacobs neighborhood in 2020. The case drew significant attention throughout Louisville for its tragic and senseless nature.
Lawless had previously been sentenced to life in prison. Court records show ongoing legal actions may have altered his custody status.
“This case remains one of the most heartbreaking crimes our community has faced,” officials said following Lawless’s conviction.
