Presidential Pardon for Army Major
President Bola Tinubu has granted clemency to Major Suleiman Alabi Akubo, a senior Nigerian Army officer.
Akubo, 62, was sentenced to life imprisonment for selling over 7,000 stolen military weapons to Niger Delta militants.
- He was among 175 persons who benefited from a presidential pardon and clemency.
- The National Council of State approved the pardon.
Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga stated that Akubo’s life sentence was reduced to 20 years due to his “good conduct and remorsefulness”.
Akubo’s pardon follows a recent review of his case.
