Dallas Jenkins shares a new clip from ‘The Chosen’ Season 6 and ‘Joseph of Egypt’

Dallas Jenkins’ new Season 6 preview

Dallas Jenkins recently shared a short preview from the upcoming sixth season of “The Chosen” during a Sunday night livestream, emphasizing that many of the new episodes will be emotionally intense and difficult to watch. He described working on this season as “the hardest thing we’ve ever done” and said it has been one of the most challenging periods of his life, both personally and professionally.

Scene from John 18

The sneak peek focuses on the events of John 18, where Jesus is arrested and taken to the high priest Caiaphas’ house. In the show’s version of the story, Jesus is questioned about his teaching while religious leaders search for a way to justify condemning him.

“I know that in a scene like that, where you’re seeing Jesus get smacked for the first time, it’s hard, and I understand that,” Jenkins told viewers after showing the clip.

He added that Season 6 will be difficult in tone, but is centered on what he called the greatest act of love in history.

Tone and themes of Season 6

Jenkins stressed that, although the new season will be heavy and painful, he wants viewers to fully engage with each episode rather than pull back from the difficult material. He encouraged fans to “lean in” so they can draw as much meaning as possible from the story when Season 6 is released.

Funding and release plans

According to Jenkins, funding for Season 6 is now complete, including the “supersized” finale that will serve as the culmination of the season. The season is scheduled to begin a phased release late next year, with the extended finale combining the planned seventh and eighth episodes into a feature-length film depicting the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

Earlier in the year, he had explained that the finale required a budget of about \$30 million and asked fans to help cover the remaining shortfall through donations. Every season of “The Chosen” has been financed through crowdfunding via the Come and See Foundation, which continues to support the series’ production.

Start of fundraising for Season 7

Now that Season 6 is fully funded, Jenkins said the team has moved on to raising money for Season 7, the next chapter of the show. He noted that the first episode of Season 7 is already covered thanks to a \$2.5 million contribution from a family that has donated to “The Chosen” in the past.

First look at “Joseph of Egypt”

During the same livestream, Jenkins also offered a behind-the-scenes glimpse of “Joseph of Egypt,” a limited series co-produced by Amazon MGM Studios and his company, 5&2 Studios. Viewers saw parts of the set in Albuquerque, New Mexico, along with brief comments from cast members about their experiences filming the biblical drama.

The footage included short sequences from the show, including the moment Joseph is forcibly taken away by his brothers. Jenkins described the project enthusiastically, saying that the scripts are strong and the editing is coming together well.

Jenkins’ outlook on the new projects

“Joseph of Egypt” is the first live-action spinoff from “The Chosen” produced by 5&2 Studios, marking a significant expansion of the creative universe around the original series. Jenkins expressed confidence that both Season 6 of “The Chosen” and “Joseph of Egypt” are progressing in a promising direction, even though the production process has been demanding.

Author’s summary

Season 6 of “The Chosen” and the new “Joseph of Egypt” series push Dallas Jenkins’ team into darker, more demanding territory while keeping the focus on sacrificial love and ambitious, crowdfunded biblical storytelling.
