Popular food delivery service Menulog to CLOSE in Australia

Menulog to Close Australian Operations

The popular food delivery service announced on Wednesday that it will exit Australia after 20 years. Up to 120 employees will receive redundancy packages and outplacement support as a result of the closure.

According to Roy Morgan, Menulog was one of Australia’s most popular food-delivery apps in 2022, ranking second only to UberEats.

In a statement, Menulog said: “After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to cease our operations in Australia. While Menulog has a proud 20-year history, it has been navigating challenging circumstances. This strategic decision reflects our focus on accelerating growth and investments in other markets and to deliver the best experience for customers, partners and couriers.”

The Menulog platform, acquired by Just Eat in 2015, will remain active until November 26 at 11:59 p.m.

The service was known for its high-profile advertisements featuring celebrities such as Snoop Dogg, Katy Perry, and Christina Aguilera. Menulog, which owns Just Eat Takeaway.com, will close its Australian operations.

Gary Mortimer, Professor of Marketing and Consumer Behaviour at the Queensland University of Technology, noted that Menulog had failed to future-proof its business.

Авторское резюме: Менюлог объявил о закрытии операций в Австралии после 20 лет работы, обещая компенсации сотрудникам и продолжение сервиса до 26 ноября; падение бизнес-модели и поиск роста в других рынках объясняют решение компании.
