Stargazers were treated to a beautiful display of the Northern Lights over Edinburgh in the early hours of this morning (November 12). Lavanya Kashyap photographed the Northern Lights from Calton Hill from 2:30am to 3:40am, writing, “freezing in the cold was so worth it”. Seula Lee also captured the Aurora Borealis from Calton Hill, commenting: “A night to remember and colour visible to the naked eye.” Stephanie Rodgers also caught the Northern Lights over the capital, taking her photographs from north Edinburgh from 1:00 to 4:00am. Qingyuan Gardner photographed them from the city’s Newhaven district from 2:30am to 2:42am. The Met Office says there’s a chance the Northern Lights could be visible again tonight (November 12) and into the early hours of tomorrow (November 13). The forecaster says: “Another Coronal Mass Ejection is due on Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Visible aurora expected across parts of northern UK, with a chance of sightings further south across Northern Ireland, England, and Wales, though cloud cover is expected to inhibit ideal viewing conditions for most parts once again.”
