Penn women's basketball team improved to 2-0 in non-conference play after defeating Delaware State 63-41 on Monday. The victory was highlighted by junior center Tina Njike's first career double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
The match started as a closely contested battle. Junior guard Ese Ogbevire scored first for Penn, but Delaware State quickly responded. Despite Delaware’s defensive efforts, Penn sparked a 6-0 run early in the game.

In the second quarter, Penn's offense surged, especially from three-point range. Early triples from Njike and Ashna Tambe extended Penn’s lead to 24-13 within three minutes. Penn outscored Delaware State 20-6 in the quarter, heading into halftime with a 36-17 advantage.
Delaware State began the second half looking revitalized and determined to overcome the nearly 20-point deficit.
