Sacramento Kings head coach Doug Christie passionately responded to critics before the team’s 122-108 defeat to the Denver Nuggets, intensifying pressure on Sacramento amid a challenging season start.
In his first full season as head coach after replacing Mike Brown last year, Christie addressed about two dozen reporters with a spirited speech lasting under three minutes. He reaffirmed his commitment to the team and the city that once supported him as a player.
“My name is Douglas Dale Christie, and I’m the head coach of the Sacramento Kings. We’re not there yet, but we’re about to work at it like crazy. For the rest of you, you know who you are.”
Growing more animated, Christie slammed his hand on the table before exiting without taking questions, emphasizing his message to skeptics.
“When I see the hate, the haters, the fakers, all you guys, you keep that energy. Because while you’re doing that, we’re going to be working and growing.”
Christie’s remarks underline his determination to counter criticism and build progress despite Sacramento’s rocky start.
