Marvel Rivals is welcoming two more iconic mutants, Rogue and Gambit, to its roster later this week as part of the game's fifth season, titled Love is a Battlefield. NetEase officially announced the addition after much anticipation from fans.
The new season draws inspiration from the 2018 X-Men: Gold storyline, where Remy LeBeau (Gambit) and Anna-Marie (Rogue) finally get married following a dramatic twist involving Kitty Pryde and Piotr Rasputin. However, in this iteration set on Krakoa, it is Rogue and Gambit's wedding that faces disruption due to a timestream entanglement responsible for creating Rivals' unique mashup world.
A special feature this season is the return of the X-Men ’97 voice actors Lenore Zann and A.J. LoCascio, who will reprise their roles as Rogue and Gambit, respectively.
"Although it’s not yet clear what order Rogue and Gambit will come to the game, the narrative implies that Remy may be first up, as he tasks himself with travelling across the multiverse to find the rarest ring in existence to prove he is worthy of Rogue’s love."
There are suggestions that more mutants could join Marvel Rivals in upcoming updates, expanding the game's universe beyond just Rogue and Gambit.
"And even more mutants may be on the way to NetEase's comic book hero shooter."
Author's summary: Season five of Marvel Rivals brings Rogue and Gambit with a fresh storyline inspired by their iconic comic wedding, enhanced by returning voice actors and hints of more mutants to come.
