Marvel Rivals season 5, launching on November 14, features the long-awaited addition of Gambit and Rogue to the playable roster. Known as Mr. X by creative director Guangyun Chen, these characters will join the lineup alongside familiar faces like Blade.
A standout feature of this update is a new map modeled after New York's Times Square. Unlike the game's usual intense combat settings, this map is designed as a non-combat area where players can relax and interact.
"Season 5 brings you the grand debut of New York's Times Square. This is a non-combat map that can host up to 100 players. Hang out, dance, watch videos, read books, and let your imagination run wild."
Guangyun Chen emphasized the social purpose of this space, distinguishing it from the game's typically violent battles, such as those involving Blade’s brutal combat style. Instead, the Times Square map offers a designated area for players to connect, unwind, and enjoy shared moments.
"We've seen so many fun, friendly meets up in the Doom Match 'Sanctum Sanctorum' map, so we wanted to give everyone a dedicated space for socializing, relaxing, and sharing cool moments outside of battle."
This new map expands Marvel Rivals beyond combat, offering a unique venue for players to enjoy social experiences and creativity within the game world.
