The Sacramento Kings have signed forward/center Precious Achiuwa to a one-year, minimum-salary deal and waived second-year forward Isaac Jones to open a roster spot.
ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that the agreement was reached earlier in the day. The team later confirmed the signing and Jones’ release in an official statement.
“The Kings have officially signed Precious Achiuwa and waived Isaac Jones,” the organization announced in a press release.
The move was anticipated after NBA insider Jake Fischer revealed on Monday that Sacramento had interest in Achiuwa. Brett Siegel of Clutch Points added that Jones would likely be waived if the deal happened.
With starting power forward Keegan Murray sidelined by a thumb injury, the Kings have been short in the frontcourt. The team has relied on smaller lineups and given extra minutes to rookies Nique Clifford and Dylan Cardwell.
Sacramento strengthens its weakened frontcourt by bringing in Precious Achiuwa on a short-term deal, parting ways with Isaac Jones to balance the roster.
