Christopher Nolan's acclaimed World War II film starring three actors from Peaky Blinders is climbing the video-on-demand (VOD) charts. The movie, Dunkirk, originally released in 2017, has regained popularity nearly a decade later on streaming platforms.
In Dunkirk, Nolan collaborated with Peaky Blinders actors Tom Hardy and Cillian Murphy to tell the story of Allied soldiers trapped by the German army and evacuated after intense combat. Barry Keoghan, another actor who will soon appear in the Peaky Blinders Netflix spin-off The Immortal Man, also stars in the film.
Eight years after its theatrical debut, Dunkirk has re-emerged in the top 10 of iTunes VOD charts across countries including Moldova, Slovenia, and Zimbabwe.
“Dunkirk was a massive success in the eyes of critics when it first arrived in 2017, and all these years later, the film still holds a Certified Fresh 92% on Rotten Tomatoes from over 450 verified reviews.”
The movie also maintains an 81% audience score on Popcornmeter. Financially, it earned $533 million worldwide from a $100 million budget. Dunkirk marked Nolan’s return following his 2014 sci-fi film Interstellar.
