Two-time Olympian and third for John Shuster, Chris Plys, approaches the U.S. Olympic Curling Team Trials with quiet confidence. The competition will determine which men’s team represents the United States at the December Olympic Qualification Event and beyond.
Before the Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 and the Olympic Qualification Event 2025 in Kelowna, Canada, the focus is first on the U.S. Trials. This five-day event brings together the nation’s top men’s and women’s curling teams to compete for the championship.
The winner will face a challenging path to secure one of the last two U.S. quotas for the team events at the Olympic Games in February.
At 38 years old, Plys, who competed in Vancouver 2010 and Beijing 2022, reflects on the importance of this decisive stage in his career. Speaking at the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee summit in New York in late October, he expressed strong enthusiasm for the upcoming challenges, despite a recent injury.
“I’m excited for the challenge ahead,” Plys said, showing his determination to overcome setbacks and compete at the highest level.
For Plys and his team, the U.S. Trials mark the first crucial step toward representing the country on curling’s biggest stage in 2026.
