J.J. Watt experienced a heartfelt homecoming at NRG Stadium, the field where he played for the Houston Texans for a decade. Before calling the game between the Texans and Jaguars on Sunday, the 36-year-old CBS Sports announcer shared a touching experience with his 3-year-old son, Koa.
Watt reflected on the morning spent with his wife, Kealia, and son on the iconic field filled with memories. He said,
“This was such a cool morning for me to have my wife, Kealia, and my son, Koa, out on the field. Obviously, so many memories in this building, so many great throwbacks, and to see him [Koa] run into that end zone, the same one I’ve run into before, just unbelievable feeling this morning.”
After the 2020 season, Watt requested his release and signed a two-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals. During the 2021 season, he suffered a shoulder injury requiring surgery. In October 2022, Watt revealed he experienced atrial fibrillation and “had my heart shocked back into rhythm.”
