Route and Duration

Challenge Details

Sara’s journey, named the "Great Northern Marathon Challenge," involves running, jogging, and walking through varied terrain including hills and moors. Throughout the route, she will carry the iconic Pudsey bear.

“We’re talking 135 miles of hills, moors and blisters – but I am ready for the challenge, and I will absolutely be giving it everything I’ve got!”

“When they picked me to get Pudsey to Pudsey, I was honoured and horrified in equal measure.”

Background

Sara follows in the footsteps of her Radio 2 colleague Paddy McGuinness, who raised £10 million last year after completing a tough cycling event for Children in Need. Unlike Paddy, Sara will complete her challenge entirely by foot.

Charity Event Timing

The marathon is scheduled to conclude just in time for the Children in Need live broadcast on BBC One, Friday night.

Purpose

The effort aims to raise awareness and funds for the annual Children in Need campaign, supporting disadvantaged children across the UK.

Summary: Sara Cox is undertaking a rigorous 135-mile trek from Kielder Forest to Pudsey to raise awareness and support for Children in Need, demonstrating determination and community spirit.
