New Toyota HiLux Leaked Ahead of Official Reveal
Toyota’s best-selling ute has been leaked online just hours before its official unveiling, showcasing a striking new design for the next-generation model.
Images shared on Instagram by bfmsoficial, originally from a video by Auto Societies that was later removed due to embargo, give an early look at the heavily updated HiLux set to be revealed later today.
Design and Structure Updates
The new HiLux retains the current model’s platform and cabin structure from the A- to C-pillars, but features a completely redesigned front with slim headlights, a squared-off grille, and sharper, angular edges. The rear end also appears more rugged, highlighted by a tailgate embossed with the word TOYOTA.

Model Variants and Powertrains
- Several versions have been spotted in Thailand, where the HiLux is known as the HiLux Travo.
- These include the ‘Prerunner’, ‘Overland’, ‘4Trex’, and a likely electric version named ‘Travo-e’.
- Except for the electric variant, all models are powered by a 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, probably the same ‘1GD-FTV’ unit used in Australian HiLux models.
Australian government approval documents have previously confirmed the presence of this engine.
