Singer HyunA caused concern among fans after fainting during a recent live performance. The incident prompted many to recall her earlier statements about dealing with vasovagal syncope—a medical condition that can cause sudden fainting due to a rapid drop in heart rate and blood pressure.
In 2019, HyunA publicly shared details about her health challenges through social media, speaking openly for the first time about her struggles.
“I wanted to be someone chosen by everyone, so I kept running forward without realizing I was sick,” she wrote. “I told myself I was fine, but when I finally went to the hospital in 2016, I learned that my heart was actually hurting.”
During that time, the singer revealed that she had also been diagnosed with depression and panic disorder, describing how difficult it was to accept the news.
“At first, I couldn’t believe it, but now I’m receiving regular treatment and trying not to think of it in a negative way,” she shared.
HyunA explained that she discovered her syncope condition after experiencing repeated fainting episodes during strenuous schedules.
“My vision suddenly went blurry, and then I just collapsed,” she recalled. “After tests, I was told it was vasovagal syncope.”
Medical professionals describe vasovagal syncope—also called neurocardiogenic syncope—as one of the most common causes of sudden fainting, often triggered by stress, standing for long periods, or exhaustion.
HyunA’s recent collapse highlights her ongoing struggle with vasovagal syncope, reminding fans of her resilience and openness about health challenges.
