Toyota has unveiled the new-generation HiLux ute, featuring notable updates to Australia's best-selling vehicle. This long-awaited redesign brings significant changes both inside and out.
Exterior and Interior Overhaul
Designed by Toyota’s Australian team in Melbourne, the HiLux sports a complete exterior makeover. Inside, the cabin offers improved technology and enhanced usability compared to its decade-old predecessor.
New Powertrain Options
Besides styling updates, Toyota introduces new powertrain choices for the HiLux lineup:
- First-ever HiLux BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle), launching in 2026
- HiLux FCEV (Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle) powered by hydrogen, expected in 2028
- Standard diesel models available from December 2025
“The new HiLux delivers a wide range of improvements to on and off-road driveability, safety and comfort, along with a new interior design and features, and new exterior design, which we are proud to say was developed right here in Australia,” said Sean Hanley, Toyota Australia vice president of sales, marketing and franchise operations.
