The ninth-generation 2026 Toyota HiLux has been revealed with a refreshed design and upgraded features, aiming to maintain its position as a top seller in Australia. The updated model is set to go on sale next month.
The new HiLux features a significant facelift rather than a complete redesign. Developed by Toyota’s Australian design team, it is described as "the most Australian HiLux ever" by the brand. Three body styles remain available, with an initial single drivetrain option that will later include electric power in 2026 and fuel-cell hydrogen by 2028.
The interior has been revamped with a fresh dashboard layout and added technology. The cabin looks more contemporary and refined, incorporating components shared with other Toyota vehicles like the LandCruiser Prado.
Powering the entire HiLux range is the same 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine from the previous model. It produces 150kW and 500Nm when paired with the six-speed automatic transmission, or 150kW and 420Nm with the six-speed manual.
