At the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, Swedish engineering and service firm Alfa Laval emphasized its strong commitment to China, describing it as the company’s most crucial market.
CEO Tom Erixon and CFO Fredrik Ekstrom shared insights during an interview with China Central Television (CCTV), stressing China's vital role in Alfa Laval’s business growth and the global energy transition.
“Sometimes it’s important that we, as a team, experience the same thing. It’s very much a learning experience from what is for us the most important market in the world, China,”
Ekstrom emphasized the value of the expo for connecting with government officials, customers, and partners.
“I think it’s a mix of meeting government officials, it’s meeting our customers, and of course, it’s expanding our view of what’s happening in China at the same time because when you look around, you really get a true sense of how important China is as a market for the rest of the world and why it’s important for us to be here as well. In fact, it’s 20 percent of our turnover. But more importantly, we look at it as a future market because China leads the global energy transition right now,”
Erixon highlighted that China’s Five-Year Plans have been instrumental in shaping Alfa Laval’s long-term strategies, describing them as highly predictive of future developments.
“China’s Five-Year Plans have guided Alfa Laval’s long-term planning; they are very predictive of what’s actually going to happen.”
Author’s summary: Alfa Laval recognizes China as a vital and forward-looking market, essential for its growth and aligned with global energy transition goals.
