In the run-up to the 2025 League of Legends World Championship, G2 Esports engaged in an intensive practice regimen. Between October 3 and October 30, before their elimination by Top Esports in the quarterfinals, the European team played 129 scrim games across 35 blocks, achieving a solid 54.2% win rate with 70 wins and 59 losses.
The breakdown of G2’s practice results shows clear regional trends. Their performance against South Korean LCK teams stood out, achieving a strong 57.9% win rate. Interestingly, despite never scrimming Hanwha Life Esports, G2 spent the most time scrimming against LCK opponents overall. Against the Chinese LPL, however, G2 struggled, managing only a 30% win rate.
The data highlights two particularly difficult regions for G2: the LPL and the LTA. Their best-of-one win over BiliBili Gaming in Round 2 was almost their only success against LPL teams. Meanwhile, Invictus Gaming handed them their toughest loss at the very start of scrim preparations with a 1–6 record in a single block.
Facing LTA opponents such as FlyQuest also proved challenging. G2 met FlyQuest three times during scrims, losing all matches, but managed to secure a crucial win against them on stage when it counted most.
“These scrim numbers give valuable insight into G2’s adaptability against different playstyles,” said Romain Bigeard, General Manager of G2 Esports, who shared the detailed data after the event.
G2’s Worlds 2025 scrim results reveal dominant performance against LCK teams but ongoing challenges versus LPL and LTA opponents.
Author’s summary: G2 Esports displayed consistency and regional adaptability in Worlds 2025 scrims, peaking against South Korea but struggling to overcome China and North America.
