Hostage Situation in Gaza

Bipin Joshi and Tamir Nimrodi, two hostages in Gaza, were not included on the list of 20 living hostages to be released during the exchange of hostages between Hamas and Israel.

Neither Hamas nor Israel has confirmed their fate, with no statements indicating they are deceased.

Background

On October 7, 2023, Hamas kidnapped 251 men and women during a terror attack, in which around 1,200 Israelis were killed.

Most of the hostages were later released in exchanges over the past two years.

48 hostages remained in Gaza at the time of the new ceasefire deal.
26 of them were confirmed dead by Israeli officials.
20 were believed to be alive, with 2 people's fates unknown, including Bipin Joshi, a Nepalese agriculture student.

Bipin Joshi was kidnapped from Kibbutz Alumim, according to The Times of Israel.
