AI is not wiping out all entry-level jobs, but it's changing the game

Experts note that while artificial intelligence (AI) hasn’t erased all junior roles, it is reshaping the job landscape and urging new graduates to show what machines still cannot—sound human judgment.

Internship cut short by automation

When her six-month public relations internship was unexpectedly cut in half, 23-year-old communications graduate K. Sudhiksha wasn’t shocked. Officially, the reason was a company restructuring, but she suspected automation was part of it.

“I was spending most of my time running prompts on ChatGPT,” she told CNA TODAY. “We were all encouraged to use it. I could complete my tasks faster, but it also made me feel creatively limited.”

AI reshaping practical learning

Ms. Sudhiksha joined the PR company in July to learn how to write press releases and pitch news stories. Instead, much of her work involved using AI tools to draft media statements and prepare weekly news summaries for clients.

Although the team was advised to verify everything produced by ChatGPT, she found the process unfulfilling and less creatively engaging than expected. Three months into her internship, her position was declared redundant.

Author’s Summary

AI isn’t eliminating all beginner roles, but it’s redefining expectations—young professionals must now balance speed with creativity and prove their irreplaceable human insight.
