Former ‘Wicked’ on Broadway Star Shoshana Bean Shares Why She Hasn’t Seen the First ‘Wicked’ Movie Yet (Exclusive)

Shoshana Bean Discusses Waiting to Watch the First ‘Wicked’ Movie

Shoshana Bean, former Broadway star of Wicked, shared why she hasn't seen the first film, Wicked: Part 1, even though the sequel, Wicked: For Good, will hit theaters soon.

Exclusive Interview at Hulaween Gala

At the New York Restoration Project Hulaween Gala on October 24, Bean told PEOPLE she’s been holding off on watching the first movie so she can enjoy both films back-to-back once the second is released in November.

“I waited until the second, so I could watch them back-to-back,” Bean said. She added that she is “absolutely” excited to watch both movies in succession.

Connection to the Role of Elphaba

Bean, who played Elphaba on Broadway from 2005 to 2006, is particularly eager to see the adaptation of the song “No Good Deed” on the big screen.

“It’s a very cinematic song, and I would love to see it have more life than what a stage is capable of doing,” she explained. “I could not even possibly imagine to the extent that Jon Chu’s genius can dream, can create.”

Excitement for the Film Adaptation

Her enthusiasm reflects a hope that the films will bring new dimensions to the story and music beyond the stage production.

Summary: Shoshana Bean looks forward to watching the Wicked films together, excited to see how the cinematic format enhances iconic songs like “No Good Deed.”
