Paramore vocalist Hayley Williams has released the 20th and final single from her third solo album, Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party. The song, titled "Showbiz," features enigmatic lyrics reflecting tensions under the spotlight.
On November 7th, Williams officially released "Showbiz," completing the unique rollout of the album. Before this, 17 tracks had been shared as singles on a free website, gradually building toward the full project.
“May never happen again / Stings like sweat on broken skin / And it’s never enough / Tastes like the whole ocean / Exit stage left / What might be the end / Showbiz, showbiz.”
Williams does not clarify what is ending in these lyrics. However, in the previous track, “Good Ol’ Days,” she refers to herself as “Miss Paramore,” implying a future for the band she started at age 15.
Despite rumors that Williams' recent solo work confirms Paramore’s breakup, she has reassured fans that the band is simply “on a break.” Recently, she admitted feeling unfairly “blamed for all the shit” that caused the band's hiatuses. The new album’s lyrics also allude to her recent ended relationship with Paramore’s guitarist.
Hayley Williams completes her solo album with "Showbiz," a track filled with ambiguous emotions about fame and creative tensions, while affirming Paramore is just taking a break, not over.
