Wicked: For Good introduces two new original songs alongside the existing tracks from the second act of the Broadway musical, offering a deeper look at the journeys of Elphaba and Glinda.
The second part of the movie musical follows the Broadway show's latter half. It concludes with Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) singing “Defying Gravity” after she and her best friend Glinda (Ariana Grande) discover that the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum) is a fraud.
Director Jon M. Chu revealed that the storyline would expand with these new songs:
“Both witches are trying to find their way home,” Chu shared in a September 2025 interview with Entertainment Weekly. “Both of these songs are about how to do that, and it’s questions that I’ve always wanted to hear from them in the stage show, but never got to. We get to take our time and explore those questions.”
Stephen Schwartz, the original composer of the Broadway musical, wrote both new songs. Fans were given an early glimpse of these tracks during the Wicked: One Wonderful Night special on NBC, just before the premiere of Wicked: For Good in November 2025.
This new installment enriches the narrative through original music, deepening the exploration of Elphaba and Glinda’s paths and their shared quest for belonging.
