Maryland Transportation Officials Visit Cecil County

ELKTON — Officials from Cecil County government, representatives from most of the county’s eight towns, and members of the Cecil County delegation to Annapolis met Wednesday with Maryland Department of Transportation representatives.

Cecil County Council President Al Miller, pictured with Cecil County Administrator Dan Schneckenburger and Cecil County Executive Adam Streight, advocated for a pedestrian bridge under Route 273 to benefit visitors to the Cecil County Fairgrounds and the MD Five Star.

Town Representatives Present Their Cases

Transportation Concerns and Service Expansion

Elkton Planning Director Jeanne Minner requested updates on plans to expand commuter rail service to Elkton. Chesapeake City Mayor Rich Taylor and City Manager Robert Bernstine also voiced their concerns directly to Maryland Transportation officials.

Cecil County Council President Al Miller urged for a pedestrian bridge under Route 273 for the Fairgrounds and MD Five Star.
Perryville Mayor Michelle Linkey highlighted a sidewalk addition project along Route 222 from the high school to US Route 40.
Charlestown Commissioner Renee Capano expressed the need for pedestrian crosswalks in her town.
