LOS ANGELES (AP) — Helen Mirren, known for portraying multiple queens, a prime minister, a detective, and even the narrator in “Barbie,” will be honored with the 2026 Cecil B. DeMille Award, the Golden Globes announced Wednesday.
The award, recognizing lifetime achievement in film, will be presented in January during the newly introduced primetime special “Golden Eve,” which also celebrates recipients of the Carol Burnett Award for television excellence. The special will air on CBS and stream on Paramount+.
Mirren, whose acting career spans more than five decades, has earned numerous accolades including an Academy Award for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II in “The Queen” (2006). She is also a three-time Golden Globe winner, holding Emmy, SAG, BAFTA, and Tony awards.
“She was named a Dame of the British Empire in 2003 in acknowledgement of her artistic achievements.”
The main Golden Globes ceremony will take place on January 11, hosted for the second time by Nikki Glaser. Mirren, 80, joins an esteemed group of DeMille Award honorees that includes Sidney Poitier, Meryl Streep, Barbra Streisand, Viola Davis, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hanks, and Jeff Bridges.
