Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has firmly stated that Operation Sindoor—India’s intense military campaign targeting terror launchpads in Pakistan and PoK after the Pahalgam attack—was not stopped due to any external pressure or requests.
“Operation Sindoor was not halted under anyone’s pressure or at anyone’s request. I want to state this plainly in simple words. You know I take full precaution in political matters that I should never lie… I stand fully by what I am saying.”
Singh emphasized that India is not a warmonger but made a conscious decision to scale down the operation on its own terms.
The minister’s remarks follow assertions from US President Donald Trump, who claimed a significant role in convincing India and Pakistan to cease hostilities. Trump stated he warned both countries of trade consequences if a deal was not reached swiftly.
“I told both of them, ‘If you guys don’t work out a deal fast, you’re not gonna do any business with the United States.’ They were both great leaders, and they worked out a deal, and they stopped the war.”
Trump also suggested that India had faced tariffs and visa restrictions as consequences of its defiance and noted a potential nuclear confrontation between the two nations prior to his intervention.
Rajnath Singh categorically denied foreign influence in ending Operation Sindoor, asserting India acted independently, countering claims by the US President about his role in mediating peace.
Author’s note: Rajnath Singh clarifies that India’s military decisions during Operation Sindoor were sovereign and not influenced by external pressures despite contrary claims from international figures.
