Former NFL player Antonio Brown has returned to the United States to face trial for a Miami shooting incident that took place nearly six months ago.
Brown, 37, was extradited from Dubai and taken into custody at Newark Airport in Essex County, New Jersey. Authorities have not yet disclosed when he will be transferred to South Florida for trial.
The arrest warrant for Brown was issued in June while he was believed to be overseas, though his exact location was not initially revealed. After the warrant, Brown engaged an attorney who secured a $10,000 bond with house arrest conditions, but Brown did not return to South Florida. Instead, he posted photos and videos from Dubai, some seemingly mocking the charges against him.
"Police said Brown posted pictures and videos from Dubai, and in some he was allegedly poking fun at the charges he was facing in Miami."
The shooting occurred around 3 a.m. on May 17 at 221 NE 67th St in Miami. Police responded after an alert from the ShotSpotter gunshot detection system. No arrests were made at the time, and no injuries were reported after officers questioned several individuals present.
Antonio Brown’s extradition highlights ongoing legal challenges tied to a Miami shooting incident from May 2025, as authorities prepare for his trial.
