Antonio Brown, the former NFL star, faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted on a charge of attempted second-degree murder with a deadly weapon in Florida. He is accused of firing a gun at another man in May.
On Friday, Brown appeared before Judge Kevin Barry in a New Jersey courtroom, where he agreed to waive extradition to Florida. A spokesperson for the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that Brown declined to contest his transfer to Miami. TMZ first reported details of the court hearing.
Earlier this week, Brown had been extradited from Dubai, where he had lived for several months following the shooting. Various social media posts showed him residing there. At the time of the latest hearing, the 37-year-old was held at Essex County Jail awaiting transfer to South Florida.
Authorities confirmed that after being placed under US Marshals custody in New York, Brown’s social media accounts remained active, continuing to promote cryptocurrency platforms and an online sportsbook.
