Northern Ireland Prepares for Remembrance Sunday

The Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Tracy Kelly, will lead Remembrance Sunday commemorations across Northern Ireland, honoring those who sacrificed their lives in service since World War One.

Commemorative Ceremony in Belfast

At 11 a.m., Councillor Kelly will lay a wreath at the cenotaph in the Garden of Remembrance at City Hall on behalf of Belfast's citizens. She will be accompanied by various civic representatives and VIPs for a brief ceremony.

National Observance in London

Simultaneously, members of the royal family will lead the nation in Remembrance Sunday observances at the Cenotaph in Whitehall, London. Senior royals will stand alongside key UK politicians, armed forces representatives, Commonwealth delegates, and faith communities for the two-minute silence and the National Service of Remembrance.

Wreath-Laying and Veterans’ March

The event includes a wreath-laying ceremony to honor all fallen servicemen and women, followed by a historic march past of nearly 10,000 veterans organized by The Royal British Legion.

United Kingdom-Wide Reflection

Across the UK, veterans and their families will reflect on Remembrance's personal significance. This year's commemorations particularly mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, alongside honoring those lost in many other conflicts.
