Lando Norris arrived at Sprint Qualifying as the slight favourite after leading the only free practice session at Interlagos. The championship leader set the fastest time in practice by a margin of 0.023 seconds ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri, who has regained some speed following recent struggles.
McLaren showed impressive pace, holding a significant six-tenths of a second advantage over the next fastest driver, Nico Hulkenberg from Stake F1.
Questions loom over Red Bull and Ferrari performances, as Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, Lewis Hamilton, and Yuki Tsunoda ended practice in the bottom four positions. However, all four only completed laps using the hard tyre compound.
It remains to be seen if these drivers can find more speed in the sprint qualifying session.
