Dan Aykroyd, the beloved actor behind classics like Ghostbusters and Coneheads, returns as the host of The UnBelievable, which premieres its third season on the History Channel on November 7. Known for his fascination with the strange and supernatural, Aykroyd dives into eerie tales and unexplained phenomena with his signature curiosity and humor.
Each episode of The UnBelievable uncovers “the strangest-but-true stories in human history” through dramatic reenactments, archival materials, and interviews with experts. The season opener, titled "Strange Sightings," delves into chilling tales of mysterious clowns terrorizing quiet neighborhoods and the ghostly legends surrounding “America’s Most Haunted Highway.”
"That was one of my favorites. I had heard about the I-4 highway story before the researchers proposed it for the show. I thought, ‘wow, this is a real thing.’ People I had spoken to many years ago told me this story."
Aykroyd admitted that the Florida I-4 highway legend particularly captivated him, especially given the area’s ghostly reputation. He also reflected on the chilling reports of clown sightings across suburban America.
"As for the clowns, I still don’t know, man. The fact there was this rumor in suburban America, and these clowns were appearing everywhere. Very haunting, very eerie, very creepy."
Beyond the show’s supernatural tales, Aykroyd also touched on his personal connection to spiritualism through stories about his own family of spiritualists and his curious encounter with pop star Britney Spears, adding another layer to his lifelong intrigue with the mystical and unseen.
Aykroyd merges humor and wonder in The UnBelievable Season 3, blending real-world mysteries, eerie folklore, and his personal experiences with the paranormal into an engrossing exploration of the unknown.
