Guernsey’s Alex Scott has been called up to Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the upcoming November World Cup Qualifiers. The midfielder recently made a £25 million transfer from Bristol City to Bournemouth, where he has quickly made an impact in the Premier League.
Scott joins a prestigious group of Channel Islanders, including Matt Le Tissier and Graeme Le Saux, who have represented England’s men's national team, known as the Three Lions.
“He had an excellent [Under-21s] Euros, he won the title. Lee [Carsley] was full of praise; he did an excellent job in midfield with Elliot Anderson. He is a regular starter for Bournemouth, who are overperforming constantly, and he is a starter for them.”
“He puts the intensity in, he gets minutes, so we thought this is the perfect time to reward him, get to know him better and see what he can bring to the team.”
Alex Scott’s rise highlights both his personal talent and the growing recognition of Channel Islands footballers at the highest levels.
