Gérald Caussé has been appointed as the newest apostle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, marking an important step in the church’s leadership.
Born in Bordeaux, France, Caussé is the church's 15th presiding bishop and the third to be born outside the United States. Since October 2015, he has overseen the church’s real estate, financial, investment, and humanitarian operations. His French origin adds diversity to the leadership, which also includes European apostles Dieter F. Uchtdorf from Germany and Patrick Kearon from Britain.
"I’ve always had a testimony of Jesus Christ. He’s always been in the center of my life."
This strong faith will guide him in his new role as an apostle.
Caussé is recognized for his deep understanding of the church’s finances and his dedication to environmental stewardship. His leadership is expected to bring new views to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, especially in managing the church’s substantial financial portfolio.
Gérald Caussé’s appointment highlights his blend of faith, financial expertise, and global perspective, enriching the LDS Church’s leadership with renewed focus and diversity.
