On November 1, Jessica Simpson marked her eighth year of sobriety with a heartfelt Instagram post. The 45-year-old singer and entrepreneur shared her gratitude for choosing faith over fear and reflected on her transformation.
“8 years ago today I made the choice to confront, to confess and to let go of the self-sabotaging parts of my life that I was choosing,”
She explained that this turning point allowed her to follow what she believes is God’s purpose for her life. Simpson wrote that alcohol had dulled her instincts and limited her ambitions.
“Alcohol silenced my intuition, blocked my dreams and chased my circulating fears of complacency.”
She added that her strength came not from resistance but from surrender. Simpson emphasized that choosing faith allowed her to discover clarity and purpose.
“Both fear and faith are something that we feel and may not see, I’m so happy I chose faith over fear. It was not in the fight that I found my strength, it was in the surrender.”
Beyond her personal growth, the singer of “I Wanna Love You” shared earlier that her sobriety also reshaped her music. Reflecting on her 2016–2017 songwriting period in Los Angeles, she said several tracks never came out because they didn’t authentically express who she was at the time.
“They just didn’t feel like me.”
Jessica Simpson reflects on eight years of sobriety, crediting faith and surrender for restoring her clarity, creativity, and a renewed sense of self.
