Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV), a leading Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, is set to introduce three robotaxi models in 2026 and begin trial operations as part of its strategic expansion in the robotaxi market.
The new robotaxis will be equipped with four of Xpeng’s proprietary Turing AI chips, delivering computing power up to 3,000 TOPS (trillion operations per second). This hardware supports the vehicles’ sophisticated autonomous functionalities.
These models incorporate Xpeng's second-generation Vision-Language-Action (VLA) model, which allows adaptive driving across varying global traffic patterns without the need for high-definition maps or vehicle modifications.
Xpeng plans to release a robotaxi Software Development Kit (SDK) to partner with global collaborators and expand the robotaxi ecosystem.
He Xiaopeng, Chairman and CEO of Xpeng, stated at the 2025 AI Day in Guangzhou: "These robotaxis will feature four of Xpeng's in-house developed Turing AI chips, delivering computing power of up to 3,000 TOPS."
Summary: Xpeng’s upcoming robotaxis leverage advanced AI chips and adaptive technologies to offer affordable, flexible autonomous ride services, aiming for global scale and open collaboration through their SDK.
