The Flint Institute of Arts in Michigan will once again host the African American Film Series, now entering its 11th year. The event, created in partnership with Communities First, Inc., celebrates the creativity, resilience, and storytelling excellence of Black filmmakers.
The free community series will run monthly from November 2025 through February 2026 at the FIA, located at 1120 E. The evenings will begin at 5:30 p.m. with dinner, live music, and access to the art galleries. Film screenings will start at 6:45 p.m., followed by discussions led by experts and community members.
“These films will spark conversations that strengthen understanding and connection across our community,” said Essence Wilson, Chief Strategy Officer of Communities First, Inc.
Wilson added that the series brings together neighbors, families, and visitors to celebrate art, culture, and the many stories that define the African American experience.
The series has become a fixture in Flint’s cultural calendar, reinforcing values of inclusion and dialogue through film and shared experiences.
