US President Donald Trump's special envoy announced that another nation will officially join the normalization agreements with Israel known as the Abraham Accords. The disclosure came Thursday during the FII Priority Summit in Miami Beach, Florida.
“I’m flying back to Washington tonight because we’re going to announce tonight, another country coming into the Abraham Accords,” said Steve Witkoff, the US Special Envoy to the Middle East.
Witkoff did not reveal which nation would be joining but confirmed that the official announcement would take place Thursday evening in Washington.
President Trump is scheduled to host the leaders of five Central Asian countries — Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan — at the White House on Thursday evening. It remains uncertain whether the new accord announcement will coincide with this event, but the president is expected to participate in any significant declaration.
The Abraham Accords represent normalization agreements between Israel and several Muslim-majority nations that were first initiated during Trump’s first term, marking a major step toward improving regional relations in the Middle East.
