Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo will bring fans back to the magical world of Oz with the premiere of “Wicked: One Wonderful Night,” a two-hour televised musical event airing Thursday evening. The special celebrates the beloved Broadway show while offering viewers a look ahead at the second “Wicked” film release.
The show will air live on NBC and stream simultaneously on DirecTV, with on-demand access available on Peacock starting in November. The event will include musical performances, behind-the-scenes moments, and appearances from several guest stars.
The program will feature comedic sketches, special Emerald City moments, and an exclusive first look at “Wicked: For Good,” the upcoming sequel directed by Jon M. Chu. The director revealed the project during NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation in New York earlier this year.
“I am absolutely delighted to let you in on a centerpiece of our campaign for the second film, and it’s something that’s never been done in the 22-year history of ‘Wicked,’” said Jon M. Chu.
The “Wicked: One Wonderful Night” special reunites stars, fans, and Broadway magic in a live celebration featuring new songs, comedic moments, and glimpses into the upcoming film adaptation.
