Devils Tie Late, Defeat Canadiens in Overtime

Jesper Bratt scored on a breakaway 1:33 into overtime, leading the New Jersey Devils to a 4-3 comeback victory against the Montreal Canadiens at the Prudential Center on Thursday.

Bratt contributed an assist in addition to his winning goal, while Jack Hughes recorded two assists. The Devils, now 10-4-0, remained undefeated at home (6-0-0). Goalie Jacob Markstrom stopped 16 shots during the game.

"I just tried to read the goalie's movement and came in with a lot of speed," Bratt said. "I felt comfortable and wanted to make him believe I'd do one thing while reading how he reacted."

With this win, New Jersey became the first team this season to reach 10 victories.

"It's nice to get 10 wins, but we want to keep improving," said Devils forward Timo Meier. "We know what we're working toward every day—pushing each other to get better. This was a good learning game for us."

Canadiens' Performance

Noah Dobson tallied two assists, and Jakub Dobes made 24 saves for Montreal (9-3-2), which saw its first overtime loss after winning five straight in extra sessions. The 24-year-old rookie goalie had begun the season with six wins, posting a 1.97 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage. Dobes appeared emotional after the game, taking personal responsibility for the loss during postgame interviews.
