In a high-energy matchup filled with explosive plays, Jaden Jefferson showcased his speed and leadership as he guided De La Salle to a commanding 52–14 East Bay Athletic League win over California at Owen Owens Stadium.
California’s record holder in the 100-meter dash, Jefferson immediately made an impact by returning the opening kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown. Just minutes later, after a defensive stop, he took a handoff from Brayden Knight and raced 85 yards down the left side for another score.
Jefferson added a 21-yard touchdown run, while Brady Smith chipped in with scoring runs of 5 and 51 yards to lift the fifth-ranked Spartans to their ninth consecutive win. Senior quarterback Brayden Knight completed seven of ten passes for 123 yards and added a 7-yard rushing touchdown. Kicker Justin Uribarri hit all seven extra points and converted a 27-yard field goal.
California responded with two precise 41-yard touchdown passes from Banerjee Arjun — one to Luke Taylor and another to Darius Brown — but couldn’t slow down the Spartans’ relentless pace.
De La Salle continues an extraordinary streak, remaining unbeaten against North Coast Section opponents since 1991. The team now looks ahead to hosting Clayton Valley Charter for its regular-season finale, while California (7–2) will face Amador Valley next week.
“De La Salle hasn’t lost to a North Coast Section opponent since 1991.”
