Cairns Taipans coach Adam Forde criticized his team's lack of urgency and competitiveness following their seventh consecutive defeat. Despite high expectations after an active off-season recruiting period, the team has struggled significantly.
Forde expressed disappointment after a 28-point loss, emphasizing the need for immediate improvement.
“This is not great, this is bad basketball … we have to address it right now,” Forde said. “What’s your edge, what’s your desperation? It can be a moment in someone’s career to establish themselves.”
The team led 41–40 midway through the second quarter but allowed a 10-point deficit by halftime. In the second half, Tyrell Harrison, Casey Prather, and Jaylen Adams dominated while the Taipans faltered under pressure.
“It was too easy; Brisbane were able to get what they wanted,” Forde said. “We’ve got a lot of nice guys … they don’t like losing by 30, you can feel it. But you can play hard without talent and get wins.”
The Cairns Taipans face a critical challenge as their lack of competitiveness and urgency continues to cost them games, demanding an urgent response to turn their season around.
