Bo Bichette expressed a firm desire to continue his career with the Toronto Blue Jays after their Game 7 World Series loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday night. Facing questions about his upcoming free agency, Bichette once again emphasized his loyalty to the club that drafted him in 2016.
“I’ve said I want to be here from the beginning,” he stated after the Blue Jays' loss.
The 27-year-old shortstop nearly cemented himself as a postseason hero, delivering a three-run homer off Shohei Ohtani in the third inning before the Dodgers rallied late to secure the championship.
A two-time All-Star, Bichette had missed the ALDS and ALCS due to a knee injury sustained in early September. He returned for the World Series, transitioning from his usual shortstop position to second base to reintegrate into the lineup. Over the seven-game series, Bichette went 8-for-23, tallying six RBIs and posting a strong .922 OPS.
“I'll remember this group forever,” Bichette said. “This team showed me what being part of a true group means, and that’s probably the most valuable lesson of my career.”
After a challenging 2024 season marred by injury and inconsistency, Bichette rebounded impressively in 2025. In 139 regular-season games, he recorded a .311 batting average, with 18 home runs, 94 RBIs, and 181 hits.
Bo Bichette, after Toronto’s Game 7 loss, reaffirmed his loyalty to the Blue Jays and reflected on a season of recovery, growth, and leadership.
