Wizz Air Achieves Level II IATA SeMS Certification

Wizz Air has earned Level II certification under the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Security Management System (SeMS) programme for its operations in Hungary and Malta. This achievement marks Wizz Air as the first low-fare airline to reach this certification level.

The certification for Wizz Air UK is anticipated to follow in the next year.

Commitment to Security and Excellence

“Achieving SeMS certification is a proud milestone that highlights our commitment to operational excellence and a proactive security culture,” stated Diarmuid O’ Conghaile, Wizz Air’s Chief Operations Officer.

“Our teams will continue to build on this strong foundation to further strengthen security management across the Wizz network.”

About the SeMS Programme

The SeMS programme promotes a risk-based, performance-oriented security culture within the aviation sector. It provides a structured framework to build confidence both internally and externally in an organisation’s approach to security management.

“SeMS is essential to shifting global aviation security from a compliance-based approach to one that proactively identifies and mitigates risks while driving continuous improvement,” said Frederic Leger, IATA Senior Vice President, Products & Services.

“Achieving this requires the full support of the air transport industry. Wizz Air is leading the way—not only as the first low-cost airline to earn this certification, but through its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of aviation security.”

Wizz Air’s certification underlines its leadership in aviation security among low-cost carriers.

Author’s summary: Wizz Air is the first low-fare airline to achieve IATA Level II SeMS certification, reinforcing its dedication to proactive security and operational excellence across its network.
