Free Transit for Veterans on Remembrance Day
Honouring Service and Sacrifice
TransLink will provide free transit in recognition of Remembrance Day to veterans and active military personnel on Tuesday, November 11.
Eligibility for Free Transit
- Veterans
- Active members of the Canadian Armed Forces
- Police and fire personnel
- Members of the Canadian Coast Guard
- Officers from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans
- BC Ambulance Service personnel
To qualify for free transit, eligible individuals can show their badge, military ID, Veteran’s Service Card, or be in uniform.
Transit Access Details
- On buses and HandyDART, eligible riders do not need to tap their Compass Card.
- Accessible fare gates at SkyTrain and SeaBus stations will remain open from 8 a.m.
- Holiday fares will apply to all other customers.
Commemoration and Additional Recognition
TransLink also formally acknowledges National Indigenous Veterans Day on Saturday, November 8, in honour of the sacrifices made by Indigenous veterans, and their role in supporting peace and security around the world.
The Royal Canadian Legion will distribute poppies by donation at various transit hubs throughout Metro Vancouver.
Customers are encouraged to use public transit to attend Remembrance Day ceremonies held across the region.
