Hilary Duff recently opened up about her comeback to the music scene and gave a glimpse into her upcoming single, This is what Y2K dreams are made of. Earlier this week, she announced the release of a new song titled “Mature” set for November 6, marking her first new music since 2015’s album Breathe In.
In a conversation with host Jake Shane during the Season Two finale of the Therapuss podcast, Duff explained her decision to return to the studio.
“It was always going to happen. There’s no way that that was not going to be a part of my story.”
The pop star and former Disney star reflected on a decade away from music and how, at 38, she now feels prepared to reconnect with her audience and share more authentic experiences.
“I feel ready to fill in the blanks and share with people and connect with them on the level of now.”
Hilary highlighted her deep bond with fans she has known since childhood and her desire to reconnect with them on topics they have commonly experienced.
“We have gone through a lot of the same things — whether that’s complicated relationships, anxiety, raising kids, divorces, trying to find yourself in adulthood, family drama… Finally I felt safe enough and comfortable in my own family to step outside and open that part of myself up again.”
Despite the challenges and changes over the years, Duff emphasized the importance of this renewed artistic chapter in her life.
