UC Berkeley’s Conservative Students Host TPUSA Event

Conservative students at UC Berkeley, one of the nation’s most liberal universities, are moving forward with a Turning Point USA (TPUSA) event originally headlined by Charlie Kirk before his assassination.

Event Details and Changes

The event will now feature comedian and filmmaker Rob Schneider alongside Christian author Frank Turek, who will replace Kirk as the main guests. The Berkeley chapter of TPUSA is organizing a stop on the “This Is the Turning Point” tour.

Background and Security Measures

“The day of our first meeting where we were going to announce that Charlie was coming to campus was the day that he was assassinated,” said John Paul Leon, a junior and president of the Berkeley TPUSA chapter, in an interview with Fox News Digital.

Kirk was assassinated on September 10 while speaking at Utah Valley University during his “American Comeback Tour.” The Berkeley event is scheduled for exactly two months later. Leon emphasized that the organizers are working closely with the university and the national TPUSA organization to ensure the event proceeds safely.

“Internally, we’re spending lots of time to ensure that security is really tight and really secure and having our own meetings just completely dedicated to security themselves,” Leon said.

The event will feature strict safety protocols, including a no-bag policy, to protect attendees and speakers.

Campus Atmosphere

Leon described the atmosphere on campus since the assassination as “somber,” but noted that students are determined to honor Kirk’s legacy by continuing with the event.

Author’s summary: Berkeley’s conservative students persevere to host a TPUSA event, replacing Charlie Kirk with new speakers while prioritizing rigorous security and honoring his memory.
